Rich specimen of intergrown brown crystals of the carbonate-rich variety of fluorapatite. The translucent crystals measure to 2.5 mm and are very attractive under the microscope. This variety of fluorapatite (unfortunately now known as Apatite-CaF) has carbonate group molecules substituting for some of the phosphate groups molecules in the crystal lattice. Some areas of contact and damage as shown in the photos. 5.7 x 5.0 x 3.5 cm.
