A large modified pyritohedron sits upon a crystalline hematite matrix in this cabinet specimen from Elba. The pyrite is lustrous for the locality, is undamaged, and measures 3.9 x 3.6 cm. The hematite matrix is iridescent, possibly coated with a surface alteration to covellite. The specimen sits nicely for display on its own. 8.1 x 7.3 x 6.3 cm.
