Aus012 - Scholzite - Reaphook Hill, Martins Well, South Flinders Ranges, Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia

An excellent, rich thumbnail of scholzite (a zinc phosphate) from this Australian locality. Also present are botyroids of cryptomelane (or another manganese oxide) and microcrystals of what appears to be parahopeite. The scholzite crystals measure to 1.1 cm; overall, the specimen measures 2.6 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm. For more information on this locality, see Mineralogical Record 9,(1), 20-24
