When I first saw this "moor's-head" tourmaline, I thought it was from Elba Island and looked to purchase it for my Italian collection. Imagine my surprise to find it was from a very small find in Burma! This specimen is without damage. The main crystal measures 2.7 cm and is doubly-terminated. There are several scattered smaller crystals as well. 8.3 x 6.9 x 5.1 cm.
Please note that tourmalines from this find have not been analyzed. It is possible that this specimen consists of elbaite, rossmanite, liddicoatite, foitite, etc., or a mixture of all of the above. Hence, the general tourmaline designation for the specimen.
