EMR-I118 - Spinel var. Pleonaste - Monzoni Mts, Fassa Valley, Trento Province, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Pleonaste is an intermediate member of the spinel-hercynite series; it is basically iron-rich spinel. This is a great older specimen from my personal collection. The dark blue crystals measure to 5 mm and are undamaged. For more information on pleonaste, see the Mindat species page. Comes with a label from Schortmann's minerals. 5.4 x 4.5 x 4.5 cm.
