Gem090 - Spodumene var. Hiddenite - Rist Mine (North America Emerald Mine), Hiddenite, Alexander Co., North Carolina, USA

Superb, old-time gem crystal of "hiddenite" from the type location for the variety. Please note that this is true chromian spodumene, as opposed to the irradiated or otherwise treated green spodumene from Brazil and Afghanistan. The crystal has some minor iron staining, but is in superb shape and transparent, as seen in the photos. The color is a deeper green in person. With an older Larry Conklin label. 2.4 x 0.4 x 0.3 cm.
