Gem105 - Twinned Corundum var. Sapphire - Passara Gem Mine, Badulla, Uva Province, Sri Lanka

A beautiful and unusual multiply-twinned sapphire crystal from Sri Lanka. Two twinned crystals meet in the middle to form a butterfly shape; the additional untwinned crystals, perpendicular to the twins, add additional visual interest. The crystals are mostly transparent and are mostly colorless with some rich blue zoning. Truly unusual! 2.5 x 1.1 x 1.1 cm.
