PA005 - Aquamarine and Spessartine on Albite - Kala, Darra-i-Pech, Kunar Province, Afghanistan

Excellent, deep blue doubly-terminated aquamarine crystal measuring 2.3 cm on an albite matrix. The aquamarine is translucent to transparent and has no green or yellow overtones. There are also spessartine crystals to 8 mm scattered on the matrix. Within some small vugs are small metallic crystals which probably are columbite, but they have not been analyzed. 7.5 x 5.2 x 3.8 cm.
