Peru006 - Hübnerite and Quartz - Huayllapon Mine, Pasto Bueno District, Ancash Department, Peru

Superb specimen of doubly-terminated hübnerite and translucent quartz crystals. The hübnerite crystals measure to almost 7 cm; the two largest quartz crystals (with different forms!) measure 1.8 and 1.6 cm. The hübnerite starts as a single crystal, but fans out into multiple terminations. Under strong light, the edges of the hübnerite is a translucent, deep red. There are also smaller, translucent sub-cm crystal of hübnerite among and in the quartz. No damage. 7.0 x 3.3 x 3.0 cm.
