Africa111 - Cuprite on Chrysocolla - Dikuluwe Mine, Kolwezi, Western Area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo

Red, lustrous, translucent doubly-terminated cuprite crystals to 1.1 cm are on blue-green chrysocolla. Most crystals, including the largest, are in excellent shape. The Dikuluwe Mine is west of the better known Mashamba West Mine. Specimens from Dikuluwe are less common; this specimen probably is from the finds in the late 1980's.
