Europe123 - Rutile on Hematite on Quartz - Tujetsch, Vorderrhein Valley, Grischun, Switzerland

Classic alpine specimen of red rutile crystals on lustrous hematite on quartz. The platy hematite crystal measure to 1.5 cm, and feature rutile crystals to 4 mm on both sides. The doubly-terminated quartz is mostly transparent with a light smoky color, and measures 5.3 cm. The reverse of the quartz crystal is incomplete due to matrix contact. Difficult to photograph due to the high luster of the hematite - much better in person! 5.3 x 4.7 x 2.9 cm.
