Superb thumbnail of babingtonite on prehnite from this classic New England locality. The babingtonite crystals measure to 1.2 cm and are sharp and lustrous for the species. The prehnite consists of two generations: a fine green, translucent ball, and a secondary growth of frosted, more prismatic crystals. The specimen is contacted on the reverse where it was originally attached to a rotted calcite matrix. 2.4 x 1.6 x 1.2 cm.
These specimens were found in the early 2000's and were sold by me at Springfield in 2008 (see What's New in Minerals (10/28/2008 - Mineralogical Record online.) I recently reacquired four through a trade and am offering them here.
