Superb miniature of babingtonite on prehnite from this classic New England locality. The babingtonite crystals measure to 1.3 cm (most are doubly-terminated) and are sharp and lustrous for the species. The prehnite consists of two generations: a fine green, translucent ball, and a secondary growth of frosted, more prismatic crystals. The specimen is contacted on the reverse where it was originally attached to a rotted calcite matrix. 3.7 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm.
These specimens were found in the early 2000's and were sold by me at Springfield in 2008 (see What's New in Minerals (10/28/2008 - Mineralogical Record online.) I recently reacquired four through a trade and am offering them here.
